About GCHA

Gravesend Churches Housing Association (GCHA) is a dedicated independent housing provider, located in the heart of Gravesend, Kent. Our commitment is to the community we serve, striving every day to provide high-quality, affordable housing for those who need it.

Our Mission

Our mission is to ensure that everyone in our community has access to a safe, secure, and affordable home. We believe that housing is a fundamental right and that a stable home environment is the cornerstone of a thriving community.

Our history

Gravesend Churches Housing Association (GCHA) has been providing affordable homes in Kent for almost 60 years.

We were formed in 1964 by members of local churches who recognised the need for more affordable rented housing in the area.

We now manage more than 560 properties in Gravesham, Dartford and Maidstone.

We are a Community Benefit Society registered with the Financial Conducts Authority with charitable status, (16849R). We are also registered with and regulated by the Homes and Communities Agency (LH0870).

Our Role in the Community

Day in and day out, our team at GCHA works tirelessly to manage and maintain our properties, ensuring they are comfortable, safe, and meet the needs of our residents. We manage a diverse portfolio of properties, offering homes that cater to a variety of needs, from single-person households to large families.

Beyond the bricks and mortar, we actively engage with our residents and the wider community. We understand that we are more than landlords – we are part of the community fabric. We offer support and resources to our residents, helping them navigate challenges and seize opportunities.

We are proud to serve the Gravesend community and remain committed to our mission of providing affordable, quality housing to all who need it. Together, we’re building a brighter future for Gravesend.

Our vision and values

Our vision is to open doors to safe, secure and affordable homes.

In 2022, we identified a set of values required to achieve our strategic objectives.

These values apply across the organisation and will act as our guiding principles in everything we do in the present and in the future.

We adapt quickly to challenges and provide a flexible, personal and friendly service for our residents and communities.

We are quick to respond and believe in going the extra mile and taking personal responsibility for the services we deliver.

We provide equal access to our services and resources. We believe that everyone has the right to be treated fairly and with respect.

We keep our promises and can be depended on by our residents to provide and maintain good quality affordable homes and a consistent service that meets their needs.

We take ownership for everything we do and are held accountable by our residents, Board members and the social housing regulator.

Our strategic priorities

To deliver our vision, in 2022 – 2025 we aim to:

      1. Deliver good quality homes and excellent services in safe neighbourhoods
      2. Maintain high levels of resident and staff satisfaction and engagement
      3. Develop new energy efficient affordable homes
      4. Remain financially viable and strong

What makes us different

Not only do we have purpose at heart as a social landlord, we also provide a personal service as a local housing association. Most of our staff live in the area we serve, so we know our communities and get to know the residents who live in them.
