Free Biodiversity Events for KFRS Families

1) Bug Hunt Event at SHQ

In support of Biodiversity week at KFRS, qualified Park Ranger and Green Forum member Matt O’Rourke ran a free ‘Bug Hunt’ event at SHQ over the summer.

The event was run for KFRS colleagues and their children who were on the hunt for the biggest and brightest bugs whilst gaining some education on all the amazing creepy crawlies found.

After a quick introduction with the forest skills teacher, everyone spent some time foraging in the wilderness, this was followed by a picnic where children were able to talk about all the weird and wonderful things they had found.

2) Making Bird Feeders from Recycled Materials Event

Following a successful ‘Bug Hunt’ in August, qualified Park Ranger and Green Forum member Matt O’Rourke is running two additional free events for KFRS colleagues and their children, at Cranbrook & Canterbury Stations.

This time we’ll be making bird feeders from items that can be recycled from around the home. A material list will be provided ahead of the event and all bird feeders can be taken home after the events.
